Is Lindfield a nice place to live?

The name Lindfield is from the Old English meaning “open land where lime-trees grow” (linden + feld).   Lindfield is a flourishing, active, modern community, famed for its rich historic and architectural heritage. The ancient High Street is beautifully lined with Lime trees and has many individual shops which are well worth exploring.

Perfect for families of all ages, the village boasts some fantastic state schools plus private schools nearby, all with excellent reputations. There is a picturesque common complete with village pond, which plays host to several exciting annual events including a spectacular Bonfire Night, creating a very special community atmosphere.

The wonderful countryside walks nearby make Lindfield the ideal location for walkers, cyclists, and dog owners who love to get out in the great outdoors. There are some beautiful villages within easy reach too, from Ditchling with its great pubs and eclectic shops, to Ardingly, home to the South of England Showground and excellent outdoor pursuit facilities at Ardingly Reservoir, and Horsted Keynes with its popular tennis and football clubs.

In Lindfield, all the pleasures of village life come with convenience for commuters and travellers too; Haywards Heath mainline railway station with its fast and frequent services to Gatwick, London and the South Coast is only five minutes drive away.
