Jack, now in his mid-70s, was looking to retire and in 1989 was approached by local agents Gordon Andrews and Justin Wallden, with a business plan to buy Mansell McTaggart. The sale was agreed during a time of risk to the new owners, as the buoyant UK property market was heading for a time of recession that would continue until 1995, resulting in numerous estate agents closing.
